Professional research assistance: Library staff can help patrons do on-site research as well as help those who are unable to come into the library. For those unable to come in it should be noted that when the Legislative Assembly is in session, the turnaround time may not be as quick as at other times.
Staff can help patrons research both public and private legislation using a variety of tools including New Brunswick Statutes, Journals and indexes to the private acts.
* Please note that staff can only provide the information available. They are not able to provide legal interpretations.
Library staff can provide both historical and recent Hansard transcripts. All Hansard requests must be requested through the Legislative Library. If the most recent transcripts are not finished, a request will be placed on the request list and transcripts will be sent to the requestor as soon as they are available.
Staff can provide biographical details on current and former Members of the Legislative Assembly using in-house databases. Biographical information can also be provided for many other important New Brunswickers using a variety of sources.
Library staff has access to numerous resources to aid in general and historical research.
Subject bibliographies can be provided on request.
If the Legislative Library does not have in its collection a certain publication/article a patron is looking for, the library staff can try locating a copy of it from another library.
These learning sessions are designed to help patrons better understand how the library works and available resources. The tutorials can be individual, one-on-one, or, if there are several who are interested in the same topic, a group session can be arranged. Contact the library to inquire about tutorials or to schedule one.
The library has a photocopier on site for patrons. The cost is $0.15 / copy.
