Biography

I was raised in the community of South Branch, New Brunswick. My mother was a teacher and the schoolhouse was across the road from our home. I never missed many days of school. My mother introduced me to reading and writing at a very young age. I attended high school in Richibucto. Living throughout the province over the years, I realized that New Brunswick would always be my home. I live in the coastal community of Cocagne, where the people and the coast inspire my stories. I started writing later in life even though I dreamt of it continuously. My favorite author is Bryce Courtenay and he started writing when he was in his 50s. I knew then that I could do it too.

How has New Brunswick influenced your work?

I'm very proud of my home province. New Brunswick is often neglected as a setting for an international story and I wanted it to be an integral part of my stories so people who read my novels will become more familiar with it. There are many characters in my books and short stories from New Brunswick.

What is your favourite New Brunswick book, and why?

There are so many wonderful authors from New Brunswick and that's a tough question. Picking just one is difficult as I enjoy many, however, I would say that Beth Powning of Sussex would be at the top of the list. She is an exceptional storyteller, meticulous researcher, and a true joy to read.

What do you consider to be the highlight of your career so far?

Going to a bookstore and seeing my novels for sale has been the realization of a lifelong dream. Writing is a terrific hobby and having someone tell me they enjoyed the novel is a feeling that is hard to describe and the best reward ever.

Wall of War
(2017)
Excerpt:

Wall of War is the second novel in the Drake Alexander Adventures. The paperback and eBook have been self-published in 2017. The story is an international thriller with characters from my home province.

“The bones were projecting from the base of a large boulder as if still reaching for freedom. The curled finger bones were still intact, tarsal and meta-tarsal pointed to the roof. Suetonius stared at the dreadful sight for many moments never having considered that perhaps he'd not been the first to climb this face. His curiosity brought him deeper. Behind the boulder, the skeleton continued, two sets of tibia and fibula with feet attached completed the scene. The man or woman had been crushed by a falling rock. Who it was would never be answered. What he may have possibly been doing here would soon become evident.”
