How has New Brunswick influenced your work?
I have lived here for more than forty years. I am a nature poet, pantheist if you will. How could I not be influenced by the place I have chosen to be my home? Seasons, the rise and fall of the river, light upon clouds, the superb Bay of Fundy, Deer Island, the Beaverpond at Mactaquac, deer walking through my garden, the birds at the feeders.
What is your favourite New Brunswick book, and why?
My favorite New Brunswick book is written in leaf and twig, bubbles on the stream, the fall of water over rocks, sun glancing on diamond snow, the birch tree bending under the sparkling ice storm ... and then there are the poets, too many to be counted, among them Andrews, Chiasson, Cogswell, Daigle, Forrest, Gibbs, Lane, Leblanc(s), Maillet, Moore(s), and so many more.
What do you consider to be the highlight of your career so far?
To be called a poet and to be recognized as such by people that I respect.
