Biography

I am a native of Saint-Léonard and a graduate of École Grande-Rivière. I live in Moncton now, after spending six years in an isolated Inuit village. I divide my time between my family, my work as a civil servant, running, karate, and facilitation with young people. In April 2008, I received the Dr. Marilyn Trenholme Counsell Early Childhood Literacy Award, in the individual category.

I have three books published by Les Éditions Bouton d’or Acadie: Zébulus, le petit zèbre triste; Au zoo, je vois; and Poissons, grenouilles et papillons.

I have a lot of ideas and characters in my head, but I don’t have the time to write stories. I hope to be able to devote more time to writing when my children are a little older…

How has New Brunswick influenced your work?

The fact that, as Francophones, we are a minority in our province has certainly been a motivation to tap into the world of literature, especially for young people. Having the chance to get my work published by a publisher from the region enables me to show the young people I meet that it is possible to be an author in our province. People are still surprised to know that the books available to them do not all come from Quebec or France.

I am proud of my roots, my province, our culture, and our linguistic duality.

What do you consider to be the highlight of your career so far?

Having the honour of being invited to the Frye Festival and being in the company of well-known authors was certainly a highlight of my career. I took part in 2005, the same year as Guillaume Vigneault, Witi Ihimaera, and Michèle Marineau. Being able to participate in that celebration of literature and words, to share the magic of writing with young people in area schools, and to attend activities related to the festival were a real pleasure for me.
