Biography
I was born in Grande-Digue and graduated from Polyvalente Louis-J.-Robichaud in Shediac.
How has New Brunswick influenced your work?
New Brunswick is and always has been my home. I currently live in Westmorland County and used to live in Kent County, but I love going back to visit. I like to go camping there with my family.
The geographic settings of my novels are inspired by the beauty of the area, although their names are fictional. My first book, Danny and MJ, is set in Moncton and makes mention of Fundy National Park. My second book, The Quilting Bee, is set in Grande-Digue and Fredericton and makes mention of Moncton and Sussex.
But another source of inspiration for me was my Grade 4 teacher, Ms. Justine Leger, who for years encouraged me to write “little stories.” I took her advice.
What is your favourite New Brunswick book, and why?
Wall of War by Allan Hudson.
It is not the type of book typically found in my collection, but by page 2, I had to restart from the beginning; there were so many details to absorb. It was very captivating. It is a thick book, but I finished it in two days.
What do you consider to be the highlight of your career so far?
The death of both of my parents within the span of six weeks taught me how quickly life passes by and how important it is for me to live my dream of being a writer. Being published is a bonus.
