Nicole Daigle was born in Saint-Louis-de-Kent, New Brunswick, where she lives with her husband and four children. Trained as a biologist, she works at Kouchibouguac National Park of Canada in heritage interpretation. Since 1999, she has been publishing children’s stories with Bouton d’or Acadie. Her travels and experiences in nature have given rise to characters and adventures that help young people to better understand and appreciate the natural environment that surrounds them.

How has New Brunswick influenced your work?

My first stories were inspired by the natural world I see around me. The adventures of AmiSoleil take place in real, natural settings. Through my stories, the reader discovers an important facet of nature and the environment. It’s like discovering New Brunswick from an ecological point of view.

What do you consider to be the highlight of your career so far?

When I had the chance to participate in the Bataille des livres (battle of the books) in Geneva (Switzerland) and share with the children of that country the natural beauty of my province through my stories.
