Minister responsible for Intergovernmental Affairs

Gregory Thompson, P.C., was elected to the Legislative Assembly in September 2018, representing Saint Croix. He was appointed Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs on Nov. 9, 2018.

Prior to running provincially, Thompson represented New Brunswick federally. He was first elected to the House of Commons in 1988, representing the riding of Carleton-Charlotte. Defeated in 1993, he was re-elected in 1997, 2000, 2004, 2006 and 2008, representing the new riding of New Brunswick Southwest.

During his time in Ottawa, he served as Veterans Affairs Minister, as well as the critic for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Public Accounts, Health, Regional Development, the Treasury Board and Human Resources Development. Thompson was co-chair of the Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group from November 2004 until February 2006. He is the Chair of the Roosevelt Campobello International Park Commission.

Mr. Thompson and his wife Linda have two sons and reside in Bayside, N.B.
