MLA, Madawaska Les Lacs-Edmundston

Francine Landry was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick on September 22, 2014, as the member for the new riding of Madawaska-Les-Lacs-Edmundston. She was sworn in as Minister of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour and Minister responsible for La Francophonie on October 7, 2014. In June 2016, she was appointed Minister of Economic Development and Minister responsible for Opportunities NB, keeping her appointment as Minister responsible for La Francophonie.

In 2018, she was also responsible of Intergovernmental Affairs and the Northern Fund. Ms. Landry was vice chair of the Jobs Board, member of the Legislative Instruments and Regulations Board and member of the Treasury Board. Ms. Landry is currently the critic for the Opposition regarding the Ministry of Transports and Infrastructures.

Ms. Landry holds a bachelor’s degree in administration from the Université de Moncton, Edmundston campus, a certificate in economic development from the Université du Québec à Montréal, and a diploma in business technology from the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick, Edmundston Campus.

Francine Landry has extensive experience as a businesswoman and as worked many years in economic development, the tourism and manufacturing sectors.

From 2012 to 2014, Ms Landry was in charge of the economic component of the 2014 Congrès mondial acadien. She was responsible for promoting and facilitating cooperation between international partners, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders in northern New Brunswick, northern Maine, and Témiscouata, Québec.

She has also worked as an assistant director and economic development officer for the Northwest Industrial Commission and has sat on numerous boards at both the regional and provincial levels.
