Rick DeSaulniers was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in September 2018, where third parties elected six members, one of which was Mr. DeSaulniers. He represents the riding of Fredericton-York.

After graduating from Fredericton High School, he became a Red Seal electrician. Most recently he worked as an Electrical and Instrumentation Coordinator in Alberta.

Mr. DeSaulniers has also had an extensive labour movement career. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1288P for over 18 years.

He has extensive experience with arbitration, negotiation and administration. He served on the United Food and Commercial Workers Canadian Council for New Brunswick. In addition Mr. DeSaulniers served on the aforementioned Council`s Political Action Committee.

Born in Marysville New Brunswick, in 1953, Mr. DeSaulniers is the son of Frederick and Amy DeSaulniers.

Mr. DeSaulniers is an avid outdoorsperson who enjoys hunting and fishing around and on the Nashwaak River. He also enjoys tying salmon and trout flies.

He was active in sports, such as baseball and softball, for many years.

Mr. DeSaulniers is a musician who has played guitar in various bands throughout the years.

Mr. DeSaulniers is a past executive member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 15.
