Rick Doucet represents the riding of Fundy-The Isles-Saint John West. He was reelected to the 58th Legislature in the provincial election held September 22, 2014. On October 7, 2014, he was sworn in as Minister of Economic Development and Minister of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries, as well as Minister responsible for Opportunities NB and for Trade Policy. In June 2016 he was appointed Minister of Energy and Resource Development, Minister of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries (renamed Aquaculture and Fisheries in September 2017), and Government House Leader. He also serves as vice-chair of the Jobs Board.

He was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in the June 9, 2003, provincial election. He was reelected on September 18, 2006, and served as Minister of Fisheries. On September 27, 2010, he was reelected for a third term and was the official Opposition Critic for matters related to Transportation and Infrastructure, and later in his term, Energy.

Mr. Doucet is a past chair of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts and a past member of the Standing Committee on Estimates. He has also served on the standing committees on Privileges and Crown Corporations, and sat on the Select Committee on Public Automobile Insurance. He is also a past Official Opposition Critic for interests related to Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries.

Born in Sussex, Mr. Doucet is a graduate of Rothesay Collegiate School and Holland College, in Business. He worked in the airline industry, gaining experience in areas from sales to the flight deck, before returning to New Brunswick to work in the family retail business. As a business person, he was also involved in the food service industry, operated an advertising agency, and provided flight tours.

Mr. Doucet is a past member of St. George town council, president of the St. George Rotary Club, and a member of the RCS Netherwood Board of Directors. He served on the Town of St. George Planning and Advisory Commission. He also served on the board of Canada’s Kodak Image Check Program and was president of the Maritime Kodak Dealers Association for 10 years. In 2000, he published a book of photographs, Herring Weirs: The Only Sustainable Fishery.

He enjoys long distance cycling, skiing, scuba diving, all-terrain vehicles, culinary interests, aviation, photography, and spending time with his family and pets.

Mr. Doucet and his wife, Debbie, live in St. George. They have two children, Nicole and Jonathan.
