Lisa Harris was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Miramichi Bay-Neguac during the 2014 provincial election.

On June 7, 2016, she was sworn in as Minister responsible for Seniors and Long-Term Care as well as the Minister responsible for Celtic Affairs. She is a member of the following Cabinet committees: Priorities Board, Policy Board, Legislative Instruments and Regulations Board, and was a member of the Strategic Review Committee.

Ms. Harris has served as Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. As an MLA, Ms. Harris has also served as a member of several legislative committees, including the Legislative Administration Committee and the Standing Committees on Economic Policy, Procedure, Privileges and Legislative Officers, Public Accounts and Law Amendments.

In the past, Ms. Harris has served the public as Deputy Mayor on the Miramichi city council. Through that position, she also served on several local and provincial boards, councils and action groups. Her roles have included Chairperson of Finance for the City of Miramichi, One Voice for the City of Miramichi, Pension Board, a director of Cities of New Brunswick, director of the Union of New Brunswick Municipalities, and a director of Nelson Citizens Committee.

Ms. Harris has been passionately involved in provincial politics for a number of years. She served as an Executive Assistant to the Speaker of Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, President of the Women’s Liberal Association, and a member of the Young Liberal Association.

She has also been deeply involved in the community as a 16-year member of the Home and School Association, seven-year member of the Parent-School Advisory Committee, as a past Chairperson of Miramichi Communities in Bloom, former member of the Miramichi Advisory Committee on Youth, and the Miramichi Skate Park Commission, along with service to other organizations.

Proud of her track record in public service and education, she believes investing in people creates better opportunities for our future. She has a Bachelor of Adult Education degree from the University of New Brunswick and has worked most of her career in the education field. She was also a very successful entrepreneur as the former owner and operator of Grand Ole Bakery.

A lifelong resident of Miramichi, she is married to Eugene Harris, and they have two sons, Riley and Ransen.
