Ashley Watson of Fredericton High School plants a tree that she was presented with for receiving the 2003 Environmental Leadership Award in the Individual Youth category. She is joined by Environment and Local Government Minister Brenda Fowlie. The award is given by the Department for outstanding environmental contributions. The tree will serve as a living legacy to publicly acknowledge the recipient’s efforts, and to encourage those who visit the areas where the trees are planted, to take similar action on behalf of the environment.
