A new pet establishment regulation that licenses kennels and previously un-licensed pet retail stores and animal shelters is now in effect. The regulation makes New Brunswick one of the few provinces to oversee pet establishments to such a high degree. It will be administered by the New Brunswick Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NBSPCA).  From left: Duncan, from the Oromocto and Area SPCA; Finance Minister Greg Byrne; Paul Melanson, chief animal protection officer for New Brunswick; Joy Bacon, president, NBSPCA; and Wally, from the Fredericton SPCA.
