On Thursday, May 6, Premier Shawn Graham and Agriculture and Aquaculture Minister Ronald Ouellette welcomed to Fredericton the Cuban ambassador to Canada, Teresita de Jesus Vicente Sotolongo. Later in the day, Ouellette hosted a reception and dinner for the ambassador and the Cuban delegation in Grand Falls. Sotolongo and the delegation are examining potato market development and variety trials in Cuba. New Brunswick has been exporting seed potatoes to Cuba for more than 80 years. The Province of New Brunswick has accompanied seed potato exporters and Potatoes New Brunswick on many annual trade missions to Cuba and it has, in turn, hosted technical delegations and buyers missions from Cuba.
