The provincial government will invest $1.2 million in 2008-09 in a series of initiatives, including new investments in community services and supports, to keep seniors active and healthy. Minister of State for Seniors Eugene McGinley also announced that a new senior and healthy aging secretariat will be established on July 1 to co-ordinate the implementation of the long-term-care strategy, Be Independent.
