Status of Women
Executive Council Office
A memorial service was held today in the lobby of the Centennial Building in Fredericton in recognition of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. The day each year serves to honour the memory of 14 young women who were killed in 1989 at the École polytechnique of Université de Montréal. Candles were lit for each of the victims at today's event. Roxanne Reeves, wife of Premier Shawn Graham, addresses the crowd as Mary Schryer, Minister responsible for the Status of Women, looks on.
