Description | Tappan Adney Exhibit - Man credited with saving the Birchbark Canoe. We will have a model of a Maliseet St. Lawrence River canoe on display called a Maliseet Nailed-Gunwale Canoe, c. 1890 built by Ted Behne based on Adney's writing. We will also have a 43 minute video for people to watch of a birchbark canoe workshop that was held on the shore of the St. John River (Wolastoq) at Woodstock First Nation in August & September of 2012. Learn first hand how a canoe is built and then see its maiden voyage! We will also have a model of The Brunswick Lion, a St. John River Wood Boat on display by William Crossley.
