Shayne Dobson

Born in 1991, Shayne Dobson started running while he was a student at university. His passion has led him to participate in several high-level competitions. He set two Canadian records at the 2015 International Paralympic Committee World Championships in the 1500 m and 800 m events, T37 category. His performance led to him being named the 2015 Para Athlete of the Year by Athletics New Brunswick. Shayne has had cerebral palsy since birth, but this obstacle has never stopped him.

"In recent years, I have had the opportunity to represent Canada in a number of international competitions. I had the privilege of being able to travel around the world to countries such as Brazil, the United Kingdom, Qatar and Mexico. Being from a small town in New Brunswick, I never imagined, as a child, that I could have such experiences. My story shows you that your differences, whatever they are, do not stop you from accomplishing great goals".
