Biographie
Arun Budhathoki est un poète et écrivain originaire du Népal, qui vit actuellement à Fredericton, au Nouveau-Brunswick, au Canada. Ses œuvres ont été publiées dans des revues littéraires internationales, et son recueil de poésie précédent, Prisoner of an iPad: New Poems (2014), a été encensé par la critique. Auteur invité au Sharjah International Book Fair (2015), Arun aborde dans ses écrits les thèmes de la migration, de l’identité et de la dissonance culturelle. Arun a aussi traduit en anglais un roman népalais intitulé Shramatan: A Nepalese Migrant Worker’s Memoir (2023).

Quelle influence le Nouveau-Brunswick a-t-il eu sur votre œuvre?
Mon dernier livre de poésie met en lumière des expériences vécues à Fredericton, N.-B. Je suis désormais résident permanent, mais mon parcours a été long. Je suis arrivé à Fredericton en 2013, mais je suis parti en 2015 après le tremblement de terre au Népal. Je suis revenu en 2021, j’ai obtenu mon diplôme à l’University of New Brunswick (UNB) et j’ai commencé à travailler. J’ai fait venir ma famille ici et mon fils est né à Fredericton. Le Nouveau-Brunswick a donc clairement influé non seulement sur mon travail, mais aussi sur ma vie.

J’aime la poésie de Bliss Carman… J’ai lu ses poèmes qui ont influé sur mon écriture pendant mes études à l’UNB.
Selon vous, quel est le point culminant de votre carrière jusqu'à présent?
J’ai été invité au Sharjah International Book Fair en 2015.
