Biography

Christopher is the author of four published works, including his newest novel of supernatural horror, The Orchid Room.

He's worked as a freelance writer, manager, waiter, bartender, event DJ, actor, children's entertainer, truck driver, shopkeeper, call centre operator, concierge, office assistant, barista, supply teacher, and-most recently – a campground manager.

Christopher is an avid reader and a lover of cinema. He's a nature hound who isn't above crawling through the dirt to get a closer look at a particularly interesting beast, bird, or bug.

He lives with his growing tribe of people and pets in Tabusintac, NB.

How has New Brunswick influenced your work?

New Brunswick is teeming with character and beauty. Inspiration lingers in every body of water, each rocky shore, the dense forests. Taking a walk or a long drive in this beautiful province is enough to elicit the desire to create, whether it's a verse, a story, or a full novel.

What is your favourite New Brunswick book, and why?

Pierre C. Arsenault's Maple Springs is my current favourite. I love a good spooky story with monsters and witches and this novel delivers both in spades.

What do you consider to be the highlight of your career so far?

Publishing my most recent novel, The Orchid Room, is the current highlight. It was such a long process, full of so many tribulations I wasn't sure it would ever see shelves. The last rewrite, in particular, was a toil of passion. The entire book was stripped down under my red pen and reborn during the sleep-deprived days and nights leading up to publication. It underwent such a transformation I keep the final marked up copy as a souvenir to remind me of the necessary toil writers must go through to ensure the best possible version of their story is being told.

Excerpt:

That night, Farren had the train dream:

The tracks are the same ones her train traveled on, but this landscape is vastly different. Her spot is surrounded by tall pine trees. This dream track is in the middle of a vast desert; nothing for as far as the eye can see. The ground she walks is made up of smooth, round, interlocking white stones. She is barefoot, both legs intact. In her dreams, she always has both feet.

She walks alongside the tracks, not knowing where she is headed, only that she has to keep moving.

'Dad wants me to keep moving.'
