Biography
Michael Simon is an award-winning Canadian author of the Extinction and First Command series. He specializes in science fiction, military science fiction and fantasy. In addition to his two series [which debuted] in 2025, Michael has a large repertoire of short stories, medical articles, and travel logs.
Michael works as a family physician to support his writing addiction. He is a member of the Physician Advisory Board for The Medical Post and is a Health Columnist for CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) Radio. Outside working hours, Michael enjoys watching rugby and playing hockey, spending time with his growing family on Canada's East Coast.
How has New Brunswick influenced your work?
Having spent my entire career in New Brunswick, I've had the privilege of developing friendships with people from all over the province. They, along with my family, have influenced my work from the beginning.
What do you consider to be the highlight of your career so far?
That would have to be the launching of my two sci/fi series this year [2025] — from two different publishing houses. Four novels are currently on bookstore shelves (and on Amazon), and two more are scheduled for release over the next year.
