Biography
For a very long time, Eric’s only home port was his dreams and stories, which were long recorded in multi-coloured Canada notebooks or bits of paper that were too often misplaced. Then he met a beautiful and kind siren of Welsh origins. And the explorer, fascinated by the dichotomous beast that is man, conquered his inner demons and decided to give the gift of speech to his characters. After studying history and film, he published his first novel, Utopia, in 2011, a futuristic detective story set in Montreal’s Olympic stadium that navigates between reality and fiction.
In 2008, then editor of the newspaper Le Saint-Jeannois, he was invited to write a report on the Magdalene Islands. The Madelinots and the splendor of a unique maritime landscape inspired this fan of fantasy and science fiction to pen his troubling Légendes de l'archipel du Milieu, which was published in the spring of 2016.
Born in New Brunswick, the author explored the landscapes of his childhood in Quebec City and in the Lower St. Lawrence, as well as his twenties in Montreal and Toronto. He lives along the majestic Bay of Fundy with his wife and two daughters.
How has New Brunswick influenced your work?
Unfortunately, New Brunswick has not been highlighted in my published works thus far. I intend to make it my cornerstone, however.
For the time being, I have dealt with Acadie through the Magdalene Islands in my collection Légendes de l'archipel du Milieu. And two of my new novels that will soon be published are set in Acadie.
