Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:



1(1)                   On the first day of the forty-second month following the previous provincial election, the Minister of Finance shall deliver all necessary financial documents to the Auditor General to enable the Auditor General to review the finances of the province.



1(2)                   On the first day of the fifty-fourth month following the previous provincial election, the Minister of Finance shall deliver all necessary financial documents to the Auditor General to enable the Auditor General to review the finances of the province.



1(3)                   The Auditor General shall issue a report on the state of the province's finances within sixty (60) days of the receipt of the financial documents delivered to the Auditor General pursuant to subsections (1) and (2).



1(4)                   The Auditor General's report shall be of the same content and form as an annual report issued pursuant to section 13 of the Auditor General Act.



2(1)                   The Minister of Finance shall release to the Auditor General an updated statement of the province's finances within sixty (60) days of the conclusion of each quarter of the province's fiscal year.



2(2)                   The Auditor General shall, upon receipt of the financial information set out in subsection (1), within sixty (60) days forward the statement of the province's finances to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly who shall distribute the statement to all Members of the Legislative Assembly forthwith.



2(3)                   The Auditor General may, when forwarding the statement of the province's finances pursuant to subsection (2), append such comments as he or she deems appropriate.



2(4)                   When the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly forwards the statement of the province's finances to all Members of the Legislative Assembly pursuant to subsection (2), the Speaker shall append any comments made by the Auditor General under subsection (3).
