Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:



1                           The Order of New Brunswick Act, chapter O-5.01 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 2000, is amended by adding after section 4 the following:



Lieutenant-Governor is member for life

4.1                      Subject to section 12, on the appointment of a person to the office of Lieutenant-Governor, he or she becomes a member of the Order for life.



Transitional provisions

2(1)                   In this section, "Order" means the Order of New Brunswick established under section 2 of the Order of New Brunswick Act.



2(2)                   Subject to section 12 of the Order of New Brunswick Act, the Lieutenant-Governor on the commencement of this section becomes a member of the Order for life.



2(3)                   Subject to section 12 of the Order of New Brunswick Act, any former Lieutenant-Governor who is living on the commencement of this section becomes a member of the Order for life.
