The deer hunting season will be re-opened in Wildlife Management Zones (WMZ) 1 and 2 this fall. Hunters now have the opportunity to hunt antlered deer (bucks only) in these zones during the archery season and the first two weeks of the firearm season.  Biologists say the deer herd has grown from about 60,000 to nearly 100,000 in the last five years. A sharp reduction in doe tags, coupled with two very mild winters in recent years, has resulted in the growth of New Brunswick's deer herd.
