The following is the first in a series of six feature articles prepared for Heritage Week, Feb. 13-20, 2006.   James Robb trained as a medical doctor in Edinburgh, but had a strong interest in natural history. At age 20 he toured Europe, where he met famous scientists and collected hundreds of plants, shells and minerals. He also studied at the Sorbonne in Paris and, two years later, moved to Fredericton to become a professor of chemistry and natural science at Kings College.
