Six inductees will be added to the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame at a dinner and induction ceremony to be held in Fredericton on Saturday, June 5. John Estabrooks, chairman of the board of governors, made the announcement today.
Dianne Norman, Fredericton, is regarded as one of New Brunswick’s top female basketball players, joining Canada’s junior national team at 16. Remarkably, she continued to play for 17 years with the national program. During an illustrious career, she was on teams that represented Canada at two Olympic Games (Atlanta in 1996 and Sydney in 2000), the Pan-American Games, National and World University Games and twice at the Francophone games. Norman was inducted into the Fredericton Wall of Fame; is a two-time member of the Laurentian University Hall of Fame; and a former New Brunswick female athlete of the year.
