Nihao!
The New Brunswick delegation is riding a bus between Beijing and Hebei province, preparing for meetings and comparing notes on the action-packed visit to China's capital. This four-hour drive is giving everyone a chance to see the rapidly-growing suburbs and the incredible number of construction projects happening in the countryside.
New Brunswick representatives from individual companies involved in water purification, organic compost, wood fabrication and supply chain certification have been encouraged by the appetite for their goods and services in the China market.
Last night, Minister Boudreau and BNB staff toured the Beihang University campus in Beijing with the Moncton Flight College's Mike Tilley, Mike Dioron and Brian Baxter. They met the next group of pilots who will travel to MFC for flight training and were impressed by the warmth and innovation displayed on the campus.
We'll have more from Hebei soon, which is celebrating its 10th year of partnership with the Province of New Brunswick.
Zai jan!

Ni hao from Beijing!
All 11 New Brunswick companies have arrived in China and are keen to explore the abundant opportunities offered in this huge market. Yesterday, Minister Victor Boudreau hosted an ‘Invest in New Brunswick’ seminar at the Canadian Embassy in Beijing while trade mission participants conducted one-on-one meetings with potential partners.
During the afternoon, the delegation toured the Canadian International School, where New Brunswick teachers instruct students in the NB curriculum, providing graduates with the coveted opportunity to attend university in Canada. What started as one school with a great idea has resulted in more than 4,000 students receiving a New Brunswick high school diploma in the last 10 years. Currently, 2,800 students are learning the New Brunswick curriculum in China.
We’ll post more soon, including some photos of the school and scenes from the mission. You can see more at www.twitter.com/business_gnb.
Until then, zai jian!

The latest project from the National Film Board offers a rare glimpse into the inner workings of Canadian small businesses, including a New Brunswick company.
Titled “GDP: Measuring the human side of the Canadian economic crisis,” the project features a series of ‘webisodes’ built around Canadian businesses who are working hard to make the best of a challenging economy.
Right here at home, viewers get to see how luxury soap manufacturer Olivier Soaps, of Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, is faring, bringing the video cameras along as the Olivier family travels to their New York store, attends human resources conferences, or prepares for the Christmas rush.
Vice-president Pierre Pelletier says that working with the National Film Board on the project gives him the push he needs to come up with fresh, new ideas for the company.
With five episodes down and seven to go, he is eager to see how the other Canadian companies are coping with financial challenges, and share ideas with his counterparts across the country.

On January 23, 11 New Brunswick companies will embark on a trade and investment mission in China, led by Business New Brunswick Minister Victor Boudreau.
They will visit Beijing, Shijiazhuang, and Shenzhen, and will have the chance to meet potential clients and partners, network with Chinese companies, and learn about this dynamic market – exciting news, since China emerged as New Brunswick’s third largest export market in late 2009.
