Surgical Wait Times

Surgical Wait Time Targets

When a surgeon and the patient determine that surgery is required and the patient is ready for surgery, the surgeon completes a surgical prioritization form. This helps determine a recommended timeframe in which the surgery is to be completed. The surgery will fall into one of 4 categories:

Category	Recommended Timeframe
I	Within 3 weeks
II	Within 6 weeks
III	Within 3 months
IV	Within 12 months
All Surgeries	Within 18 months

New Brunswick has developed targets in order to assist and monitor progress towards meeting the timeframes for each category.
