April 2010

From February to December 2009 the Department of the Environment, in response to residents' concerns about the impact of emissions from industry and heavy truck traffic in the MacAleese Lane area in Moncton, undertook an air quality monitoring study to assess air pollutants in the area.

Ten different air pollutants were monitored during the study. These air pollutants were measured on a continuous basis and compared to New Brunswick Air Quality Objectives and National Air Quality Objectives.

No exceedances of health related air quality objectives for any of the pollutants measured were recorded during the monitoring program.

In all instances, results of air pollutants recorded remained below, and for the most part well below, the provincial and national air quality objectives.

Public Health has reviewed the study's findings and determined that there is no public health concern on MacAlesse Lane in Moncton.

The final report on the study's findings is available here.
