The Chatham Public Library opened in 1975 at the old Chatham Town Hall. In 1989, a new library was built beside Elm Park. In 2020, the city opened an outdoor library space where programming can be held. The library has several books on local histories, genealogy, and newspapers on microfilm (1826-2008) available to use in house.
