Biography

Proud of her Free Grant origins, Marie-France Comeau currently lives in Dalhousie, in northeastern N.B. She was trained in education at the Bathurst community college and in communications at Collège CART, in Quebec. She carries all this knowledge with her as she travels through the world of children’s literature. The author is passionate about making stories come alive, in schools and elsewhere. She is convinced that nothing can comfort or stimulate people of all ages better than a well-told story. Her story “books” appeal to children from kindergarten to Grade 4.

How has New Brunswick influenced your work?

Has helped with visibility and financial assistance within the province and between the province and other countries.

What is your favourite New Brunswick book, and why?

My favourite book is L’étoile dans la pomme. It is a children’s poetry book, and is a rather rare commodity, where poetic tone predominates and the feelings evoked make it possible to see the world differently. I can easily adapt it for newborns through to the elderly…

What do you consider to be the highlight of your career so far?

The more than 700 public readings. The kinship with the readers. The parents and children who have been following me for 6 years. The invitations from book fairs.
