How has New Brunswick influenced your work?

New Brunswick has greatly influenced my work. When my husband and I moved here 15 years ago from the west, it was like coming home. I grew up near the ocean, and missed it for most of my adult life. I love the ocean, the rivers, the "summer life" of this place. Most of my novels have something to do with the sea and are set near or on the water.

What is your favourite New Brunswick book, and why?

New Brunswick Short Stories which is a compilation of short stories by New Brunswick authors.

What do you consider to be the highlight of your career so far?

One of my mysteries, Steal away, was set mostly on Grand Manan Island. It was a thrill to be invited to the Grand Manan Library to read from it and sign copies of my book. I was a bit nervous, hoping I "got it right", but was assured by all of the people who attended that my setting and people and the island life I portrayed were right on.
